“Kings under the moon” awarded
03. March 2024
I received some good news from Spain at the beginning of March. My photo "Kings under the moon" won an award in the Spanish Memorial Maria Luisa competition. I took the photo in the fall of 2022, when I was allowed to travel to the Falkland Islands for two weeks. At one location, we spent several days with a colony of around 3,000 king penguins. Fortunately, there was a full moon during this period and I spent time with the penguins until late after dusk. One evening, I found a pair standing a little away from the colony and managed to position the moon in the background. I'm delighted that my photo has now been entered in the adult category of the MML competition for the first time. You can find all the winning photos via the following link.

So it's worth checking back from time to time to make sure you don't miss any new pictures.
New Gallery - Man & Nature
18. November 2023
My approach to nature photography is to capture the beauty of nature. But sometimes I doubt whether this is justified in this day and age. There are hardly any habitats left in which we humans leave no traces. As a photographer, it is therefore important to me not to draw a line between nature and man. This gallery is not intended for aesthetes. It is intended to stimulate thought and provide a platform for images that show the coexistence between humans and nature. The gallery is currently under construction and will be expanded step by step.

A summer of travel comes to an end
03. October 2023
Since mid-July, I've been all about travelling. If I was at home anyway, it was only to prepare for the next trip. At the end of my three-year internship, I had two great opportunities where I was able to accompany photographers travelling to Africa. This resulted in a huge mountain of image and video material, which I will be publishing in instalments over the next few months. Now that I'm back in Appenzell, my focus is back on regional projects, which I'm really looking forward to. Some first pictures from Africa can already be found under "Current pictures". Blog posts about the trips will follow sooner or later :)

Endlich – der zweite Teil des Blogs meiner Reise nach Südamerika ist online.
After an eventful week in the Patagonian mountains, we went straight to the next highlight. After the almost two-hour flight from Punta Arenas to Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands, Derek was already waiting for us there. Derek lives with his wife at Volunteer Point. This was our first location for the next five days. Volunteer Point is located on the eastern main island of the Falklands and can therefore be reached by car from the airport. However, it should be at least a 4×4 suitable for off-road driving in order to ...

I set off with my "Mätteli", sleeping bag and photographic equipment and spent three nights in the forests of the Jura. Sometimes under a starry sky in the company of a calling tawny owl, sometimes in the splashing of the rain. In addition to some wonderful atmospheres, I was also able to observe the odd wild animal.
